UNRECOVERED PROPERTY

WHAT IS UNRECOVERED PROPERTY?

Unrecovered property comes from a variety of sources, including dormant accounts in financial institutions, insurance and utility companies, and securities and trust holdings. In addition to money and securities, unclaimed property can include tangible property such as watches, jewelry, coins, currency, stamps, historical items and other miscellaneous articles from abandoned safe deposit boxes.  The above property becomes ‘unrecovered property’ when an owner neglects to update their address on an account or the property is not located during the administration of an estate and its contents are escheated to the State.
